Why You Should Avoid Hosting DNS Zones with Wix

Wix DNS restricts MX and domain authentication records, requiring domain transfer for proper email setup and deliverability.

Why You Should Avoid Hosting DNS Zones with Wix

Never host your DNS zones with Wix. As long as your DNS remains with them, you'll face limitations in implementing domain authentication records for platforms like FollowUpBoss, BombBomb, GoHighLevel, and many others.

This limitation stems from WIX's DNS system, which doesn't support assigning MX records to wildcard domains. Put simply, you'll be unable to add MX records for a subdomain that directs to SendGrid servers, critical for aligning Mail-From and Return-Path domains.

However, this isn't the only significant issue with WIX.

Should you have purchased your domain via another provider, such as GoDaddy, it's possible to switch your NS records to point to that provider and add the necessary records there.

The primary concern for WIX users comes into play if your domain was purchased through WIX.

In such cases, their system restricts any changes to the NS records to redirect elsewhere. Consequently, the sole recourse is to transfer your domain entirely to a different platform.

And this transition involves more than just DNS migration....
