Google Postmaster v1 Deprecation: Impact on Email Deliverability and Security

Ok so HUGE email changes are coming on Sept 30th - Google has announced it will deprecate v1 of Google Postmaster Tools, which provides visibility into the reputational data of corporate domains and IP addresses across Google’s network.

Since Gmail accounts make up ~70% of most databases and remain the number one target for threat actors, this change will reduce visibility into the correlation between malicious actors abusing corporate infrastructure and the downstream impact on domains and IPs within Google’s network.

For marketers and deliverability specialists, this also means less insight into whether newly deployed email strategies are impacting how Google evaluates inbound traffic.

While there are still reliable 3rd party sources for IP reputation checks, the discontinuation of Google Postmaster v1 will disrupt well-established processes for both deliverability and security teams.

It’s the right time to update monitoring workflows and integrate alternative data sources to maintain visibility.
