Protect Your Domain and Emails When Switching IDX Providers

Switching IDX providers requires DNS zone export; avoid losing email, services, and risk domain hijacking incidents.

Protect Your Domain and Emails When Switching IDX Providers

Heads up for those planning an IDX switch:Before leaving your current IDX provider, if they manage your DNS zone, don't forget to request a zone export.

If you switch to another IDX provider without doing this, and they shut down your account, all services connected to your domain, including your emails, will become unavailable. This also affects other backend configurations for your FUB, Mailchimp, BombBomb, and other services.

If possible, never delegate your DNS zone to third parties, as doing so means you lose control over your domain and associated services. This also increases the risk of your domain being hijacked. Do you remember what happened to Anywhere Real Estate Inc. a few months ago?

Always opt for trusted sources, such as Cloudflare or Amazon Route 53
